Forensics Investigator Salary

Why do RN Nurses make more money than Criminal/Legal Investigators (Especially in California) ?

I just don’t get it!? In order to have a career in Criminal Justice whether it’s a Police Officer, Forensic Investigator, or Criminal/Legal Investigator you have to go through SOOOO Much schooling for 4-6 years, training both physically, emotionally & mentally….While my friends who are RN nurses went to school for 1-2 years, got their Bachelors Degree and that’s it! They make $66,000 a year while people in Criminal Justice get shot at, yelled, at, invesitgate murders, crimes, and only make $25,000-$40,000! Why is that? I wanted to go into Criminal Justice because I love investigating but I don’t want to go into that type of career if it’s not going to be appreciated or if the salary for Criminal Justice careers don’t go up soon! Please Help…advice would be great…I want to know why Legal/Criminal Investigators don’t get paid a lot like RN nurses do. (PLEASE NO RUDE ANSWERS/FEEDBACK! IM ONLY LOOKING FOR MATURE, ADULT ANSWERS SO IF YOU CAN’T GIVE THAT TO ME PLEASE DON’T RESPOND!)

Some of the starting salaries in nursing are higher than the starting salaries in law enforcement but as you move up in the ranks the salary also increases to even get close to 100K for top level homicide investigators. And that is without a college degree. I think if you went into law enforcement with a 4 year degree (ie bachelor’s) you should expect to start out at maybe 60K depending on what law enforcement job you go into, location, etc.

BTW. Unless someone comes into college with a bunch of AP credits or does more 15 credit hours per semester plus takes tons of summer courses it usually takes 4 years to get a bachelor’s. I have never heard of someone getting a bachelors in 1-2 years unless you use an internet scam. However you may be confused because many nursing jobs only require an associates degree which takes usually 1-2 years.

Bottom line: If you want to go into lawenforcement/investigations then you will be appreciated and will make as much as a nurse.
